Migration - Changes
You will experience several significant differences when you begin using the new processing service:
| 1) | | No more settlement costs. There will be no more settlement fees for CAD or USD transactions because transfers into your bank account will now be free. Upon migrating to the new service your funding will be done by EFT (electronic funds transfer) as opposed to wire transfer which will also eliminate the incoming wire transfer fees that are being charged by your bank. |
|
| 2) | | Fast settlement. You can receive your funds daily in as quickly as 72 hours after each transaction is processed. |
|
| 4) | | Localized support. All merchant support will be based locally from within Canada. |
|
| 5) | | No cost for migration. Your existing rate structure will not change in any way and there is no cost for transferring your service to the Home Trust system. |
|
| 6) | | Shopping cart compatibility. If you are using a standard WorldPay integration you can begin using the new service with a simple and minor modification to your website. |
Migration - General Questions
Why is this happening?
RBS WorldPay has recently undertaken a full strategic review including an assessment of all markets they currently operate in. Following completion of these assessments there are some markets in which they will no longer be providing services and, regrettably this includes Canada. Merchants are being migrated onto the Home Trust system. Moving to the new system will provide Canadian merchants with several advantages that can only be provided by a domestic Canadian processing platform.
What does this change mean to my business?
Foremost, it means your processing services will now be provided by a Canadian Visa member bank as opposed to RBS WorldPay which is a European Visa member. On a day to day basis it means that your customer support will be based locally within Canada, there will be no more settlement fees, you will receive your funds more quickly, you will have enhanced AVS security results when processing payments for cardholders in Canada, and there will be numerous other improvements that are only able to be delivered by a domestic Canadian processor.
Who is Home Trust?
Home Trust is a CDIC insured, federally regulated Canadian trust company. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Home Capital Group Inc., a publicly held company that trades on the TSX under the symbol HCG. Home Trust operates the PSiGate payment gateway and is a direct member of Visa Canada.
With over 500 employees in offices across the country from Halifax to Vancouver, and headquartered in Toronto, Home Trust is one of Canada's leading trust companies and foremost providers of credit card processing services in North America.
What is the PSiGate payment gateway?
Home Trust operates the industry leading PSiGate payment gateway which will replace the RBS WorldPay payment gateway to power payments on your website. The PSiGate payment system processes hundreds of thousands of e-commerce payments every year for merchants across North America.
Home Trust is a direct Visa Canada board member and PSiGate is a wholly owned subsidiary of Home Trust Company. It should be noted that in the same way that RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) operates the WorldPay gateway to power payments over their network in Europe, Home Trust operates the PSiGate gateway to power all Visa and MasterCard payments on the Home Trust network for merchants across Canada.
Is the PSiGate payment gateway reliable?
The PSiGate payment gateway is both extremely secure and reliable. PSiGate has been a full service Canadian provider of e-commerce payment processing services since 1998. In particular, because Home Trust is a domestic Canadian processor, the PSiGate payment gateway is able to return enhanced AVS (address verification) security results for Canadian cardholders with better support for street number and postal code AVS match results. In addition, the PSiGate system provides industry-leading fraud protection through extensive fraud checks on a 24/7 basis utilizing Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode (both services are available at no additional costs to merchants), and an extremely flexible back-end configuration system will enable you to fine tune your anti-fraud settings.
Will I experience downtime as a result of the migration?
Your WorldPay account will remain open until January 31, 2011 so you will not experience downtime as a result of migrating. We suggest that you begin the migration process as soon as possible so you can begin using the new service.
After completing the migration request form you will receive an email in approximately 5 business days notifying you that you can begin using the new payment processing service. When this is received you will need to modify your website to begin using the Home Trust payment system (called the PSiGate payment gateway). Once this email is received you can begin using the payment system at any time you want. Support is available to assist you with the necessary modifications needed in order to use the new system.
Can I still accept all the same processing currencies?
All the same major payment currencies are still supported. CAD and USD payment currencies are supported directly by Home Trust. Merchants that process in GBP and EUR will also receive support for these currencies but there will be an additional step in the migration process. Contact support at 888-414-7111 ext. 7 if you require support for GBP, EUR or international payment currencies.
Is there a cost to transfer my processing services to Home Trust?
There is no cost to migrate your account to Home Trust. The transition has been developed to be as quick and seamless as possible. The migration request can be accomplished online in a few moments. Once completed, it will take 5 business days for the new service to be activated. During this time you can review the minor technical changes that must be made to your website to prepare for the new system.
Will my rate structure change in any way?
Your rate structure will not change in any way. While your rates won't change your settlement costs will be reduced significantly. This is because the Home Trust system will eliminate the wire transfer fees that are currently being charged upon settlement into your bank account each week. This change will completely eliminate your settlement costs and will provide most merchants with a savings of between $500 to $800 per year, depending on the currencies you trade in and how often you are currently receiving your wire transfers.
Will my website integration still work?
A payment wrapper has been built that will enable you to begin using the new payment system with only one minor change to your website.
If you use a shopping cart such as Mal's E-commerce, X-cart, OS Commerce or another popular shopping cart program you will find that it is likely already compatible with the new payment gateway. Specifically, check to see if your shopping cart is compatible with the PSiGate payment gateway. You can also use the payment wrapper if your cart is not compatible. Contact support if you have an existing shopping cart and have questions about integrating it into the new payment system.
Are there any new features I can use?
There will be several new and useful features. This includes an account manager feature that makes it easier than ever to setup recurring or future based billing of your customers credit cards without having to store cardholder data. You will have access to enhanced reporting, and have greater control over the look and feel of your checkout pages. Interested merchants will be able to add Interac Online payments to their website. There are numerous other features you may find of use to your business.
Do I have to transfer my processing services to Home Trust?
You do not need to transfer your services to Home Trust but your WorldPay account will be closed on January 31, 2011. Home Trust have been specifically chosen because of the strength and reliability of their processing network, the feature rich payment gateway that can support multiple processing currencies, the fact that customers receive a very high level of customer service from a head office that is based locally in Toronto, Ontario, and their ability to seamlessly migrate WorldPay merchants onto the Home Trust system. Furthermore, there is no cost to migrate your account to the Home Trust system and the process can be accomplished without any downtime on your website.
Will I continue to receive my funds from WorldPay after I transfer my service to Home Trust?
You will continue to receive your regular rebates subject to your existing funding schedule with WorldPay. Once you begin processing your payments through the Home Trust system all future settlements will be sent to you directly by Home Trust.
Will I still contact RBS WorldPay for support once I have migrated to Home Trust?
No, your new agreement will be directly with Home Trust. All support and aspects of your processing services will be based locally from the Home Trust headquarters in Toronto. This will eliminate the time zone difference when attempting to contact WorldPay support and result in a greater overall level of customer satisfaction.
Migration - Technical Questions
What changes do I have to make to my website?
We have created two options for merchants to choose from in regards to implementing the new system.
| 1) | | A payment wrapper has been built that will enable to you submit WorldPay transactions to the new payment gateway. If you will be using the wrapper all you will need to do is update your payment page to submit transactions to the wrapper instead of to WorldPay. We will provide you with assistance if you need help completing this step. For more detail see the wrapper notes.
|
| 2) | | You can do a direct integration with the new payment gateway. If you use a shopping cart such as Mal's E-commerce, X-cart, OS Commerce or another popular shopping cart program you will find that it is likely already compatible with the new payment gateway. Specifically, check to see if your shopping cart is compatible with the PSiGate payment gateway.
Even if your cart is not directly compatible it can still work with a minor adjustment in order to use the payment wrapper. Full technical documentation is available if you wish to complete a direct integration into the PSiGate payment gateway. We will assist you with this process if you need help. |
I don't have a web developer, can you help me with the changes?
Yes, we can have a web developer perform the required changes for you. There is no cost for this service, but because of the number of merchants migrating we ask that you contact us as soon as possible to let us know that you will need assistance updating your website.
What type of support is available to help me with the required changes?
We have implemented the most comprehensive support possible to assist with every step of the migration process. If you run into absolutely any questions whatsoever, do not hesitate to contact us for support. This includes assistance with technical issues, integrating into the new system or any questions about the new service.
I am using Futurepay, can I port my existing cardholder data?
The WorldPay Futurepay service is designed to store credit card information in order to provide a recurring billing service. PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) prevent RBS WorldPay from sharing cardholder data with any other party. We can help you to design an email blast to your customers asking them to update their account details. This will enable you to create new recurring billing agreements on the new system for your customers, but will involve an update to your website integration. Contact support for assistance.
What is the payment wrapper?
The wrapper will enable you to use the new payment service without having to make any significant changes to your website integration. It has been specifically designed to minimize the technical modifications needed in order to begin using the new payment system. The technical changes that are required should be able to be implemented in a matter of minutes.
Please be aware that the wrapper has been developed as a courtesy to WorldPay customers and is provided in order to help make the migration onto the new platform as easy to complete as possible. If your existing shopping cart system is directly compatible with the PSiGate payment gateway then you will not need to use the wrapper and can instead integrate directly with the new payment system.
Do I have to install or configure the wrapper?
No the wrapper does not have to be installed or configured. It is simply a web page that has been built to receive a WorldPay transaction, reformat it, and then send it to the PSiGate payment gateway. All you must do is modify your website to send transactions to the wrapper instead of to WorldPay.
How does the wrapper work?
The wrapper is quite simple in nature. The wrapper is a web page that will receive a transaction that has been formatted to work with WorldPay and will reformat it to work with the PSiGate payment gateway. In order to use it you will simply change the form action URL of your payment page to point to the wrapper instead of to WorldPay. Upon receiving the information the wrapper will rename the WorldPay transaction variables into PSiGate transaction variables. If this is too technical of a description then you should understand that it will take information that was meant for WorldPay and rename the information so it is meant for PSiGate. The wrapper will then forward the information onto the PSiGate payment gateway so it can be processed.
After the transaction is processed the transaction information is passed back to the wrapper and the entire process happens in reverse. The PSiGate variables are renamed back into WorldPay variables and the transaction result is returned to your website so you will receive the payment response notification.
How do I use the wrapper?
An in depth tutorial is available here. In order to use the wrapper you just need to adjust the form submission URL of your payment page to point to the wrapper. You will also need to append your callback or Payment Response URL (this is the page that users are taken to on your website after a transaction has been approved) onto the end of the wrapper location. For example:
Your old form action will look like this:
<form action=https://secure.wp3.rbsworldpay.com/wcc/purchase method=POST>
Your new form action will look like this:
<form action=https://order.psigate.com/worldpay/wrapper.php?resp=http://yourwebsite.com/yourCallbackScript method=POST>
Or you can choose to include a variable with your payment response address:
<form action=https://order.psigate.com/worldpay/wrapper.php>
<input type=hidden name=responseAddress value="http://www.yourwebsite.com/yourCallbackScript">
View the full wrapper setup tutorial here.
Is there a full tutorial to show me the exact steps to configure my website to use the wrapper?
Yes, a step by step wrapper tutorial can be found here. If you prefer to do a direct integration with the new payment gateway instead of using the wrapper then technical integration documentation can be found here.
Is the wrapper free?
Yes the wrapper is completely free to use. Please be aware that the wrapper has been developed as a courtesy to our customers in order to help them use the new payment system without needing to do significant modifications to their website. If your shopping cart system is already PSiGate compatible or includes a module for the PSiGate payment gateway then you are encouraged to use a direct PSiGate integration as opposed to the wrapper.
Are there any limitations with the wrapper?
The wrapper has several limitations which have been listed below. It is important to note that the wrapper has been designed to reformat basic WorldPay transactions in order to be compatible with the PSiGate payment gateway. There are several advanced WorldPay integration options that are not supported by the wrapper. Specifically, the wrapper has been designed to handle transactions using the WorldPay Select Junior and Business Gateway HTML redirect methods of integration. The wrapper will handle the requirements of the vast majority of users but if you have a particularly complex integration or are looking for the highest possible level of functionality you are encouraged to implement a full PSiGate integration. Note that the PSiGate gateway does indeed support most of the following features, but not through use with the wrapper. If you are considering using the wrapper you must read the wrapper legal notice. Please contact the person responsible for maintaining your website if you believe you may be using any of the following functionality and wish to use the wrapper.
Features not supported by the wrapper:
MD5 encryption
The wrapper does not support MD5 encryption. If you are currently encrypting transaction variables with MD5 encryption this must be disabled before you can begin using the wrapper.
Payment page customizations
Any customizations that have been made to your WorldPay checkout pages will be lost. Support is available to assist you with the recreation of these customizations on the PSiGate system.
Verified by Visa
The wrapper does not support Verified by Visa. PSiGate does fully support Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode but this can only be accomplished through a direct PSiGate integration. Contact support if you require assistance implementing Verified by Visa on your site.
Futurepay
The wrapper does not support FuturePay recurring billing transactions. PSiGate supports a flexible and easy to use account manager system (available in your control panel) to assist with recurring billing.
Result Pages
ResultC and ResultY pages will no longer be displayed to the user. When a transaction has been approved the wrapper will pass the user to the Payment Response page of your website, or if no Payment Response page is provided will display a default transaction approval page. See the wrapper configuration tutorial for more details on configuring your payment response pages.
